Snoop Dogg Reincarnates Himself as Snoop Lion
Rapper Snoop Dog Becomes Reggae Artist Snoop Lion
After a recent trip to Jamaica, rap artist Snoop Dogg says he experienced a spiritual rebirth. He decided to change his stage name to “Snoop Lion” at the suggestion of a Rastafarian priest.
In addition, Snoop plans to leave behind rap to focus on reggae music.
He’s decided that rap is no longer challenging enough for him and said:
“It’s not that I want to become Snoop Dogg on a reggae track,” Snoop said. “I want to bury Snoop Dogg, and become Snoop Lion. I didn’t know that until I went to the temple, where the High Priest asked me what my name was, and I said, ‘Snoop Dogg.’ And he looked me in my eyes and said, ‘No more. You are the light; you are the lion.’ From that moment on, it’s like I had started to understand why I was there.”
“Reincarnated”, his first reggae album, will be released this fall.
