Rand Paul’s Shocking Endorsement of Mitt Romney
It took me a few days to get around to writing this post, because I’m still shocked over what transpired last week within the Ron Paul camp.
As I’m sure you’ve heard, Senator Rand Paul, Ron Paul’s son, dropped a bombshell on Thursday by endorsing Mitt Romney on Sean Hannity’s show.

What?!?!
I think it’s fair to say that the Paul supporters were blindsided by this announcement.
Rand claims that his primary support still goes to his father, but if that were the case, and if he stood for what he has all along claimed he does, there is no way he could, in good conscience, rally behind Romney.
Ron Paul is practically the polar opposite of Romney…..or so we were led to believe.
Libertarians and NeoCons are at the opposite end of the spectrum. Period.
The Libertarian Party issued a scathing press release stating:
When Dr. Rand Paul ran for U.S. Senate in Kentucky, many of his fund-raising appeals were sent to the donors and supporters of his father, Congressman Ron Paul. They were designed to convince Ron’s supporters that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. That Rand was, like his legendary father, a steadfast champion of liberty.
But no true libertarian, no true friend of liberty, and no true blue Tea Partier could possibly even consider, much less actually endorse or approve of, the Father of Obamacare, Big Government tax and spender, Republican Mitt Romney.
Especially the son of Ron Paul, who has no excuse.
Indeed, Rand’s announcement was like a slap in the face to the die-hard Paul supporters – the Patriots who have worked tirelessly, giving blood, sweat, and tears fighting to get Ron Paul elected.
If not elected, at least respected.
Did Rand Paul Betray His Father?
Was Rand Paul’s endorsement the result of a rumored death threat against his father?
Natural News posted an interesting linguistics analysis of Rand Paul’s endorsement, which seems to indicate that his statements were not sincere.
There’s no way to know for sure exactly what happened in the Paul camp. But as a long-time, staunch Ron Paul supporter, I feel betrayed. Rand’s announcement raises some serious questions in my mind in addition to the death threat rumor.
Have they been exaggerating the success of their delegate strategy to make us believe Ron Paul would have a chance in a brokered convention?
Is there a correlation between Rand Paul’s endorsement and Ron’s behavior towards Romney during the debates?
It was odd that Paul would viciously attack others, but went much easier on Romney. There were many that found this suspicious and questioned if there was a deal between Paul and Romney, which Paul denied.
I, personally, am now wondering if Paul really did have a deal with Romney all along.
It’s pretty evident that the other candidates were liars and sell outs. The Pauls were so appealing, because they seemed to be the only ones who would stick to their principles no matter what.
Something isn’t right here.
Are the death threat rumors true?
Did something or someone force Rand’s hand, or is it possible that the Paul’s aren’t quite the men we believed they were?
As much as I hate to even think it, perhaps Rand and Ron are the best deceivers of them all. So good, in fact, that none of us realized we were being played.
Is it possible that they were willing participant’s in the GOP’s game all along?
I don’t know about you, but after what has transpired this past week, red flags are going up all over the place.
One thing is for certain, Rand’s endorsement could potentially destroy both his and his father’s credibility.
And it should.
You can’t spend your political career shouting from the rooftops about your character and integrity….and then do this.
Credibility ruined. Trust destroyed.
My intention has always been to write Ron Paul in if he didn’t get the nomination.
That plan may have changed. I will NEVER vote for Obama or Romney. But I’m also not sure I’ll be voting for Paul now either.
As much as I believe that everyone should vote, I may be sitting this one out as a matter of principle.

Wow… I’m not into politics but I must say this does not sound good.. Him supporting the total opposite should definitely raise some red flags..
I would never waste my time voting.. I wouldn’t even have voted for Ron Paul. I heard the way he was speaking and while it sounded it good, I knew deep down it was too good to be true. Not calling him a liar but someone in a position of power that wanted to expose the government for their “evil deeds”. There’s no way they would allow him into office…
Now after reading your post, I ask the question too… was Ron Paul a decoy? Maybe to expose a certain group of “thinkers” as being against the government? Who knows…
I guess if we see all the Ron Paul supporters getting hauled off to camps or something, we’ll know they had an agenda.

Ron Paul has a 30-year, rock-solid record to back up what he’s been saying all along. He’s never voted contrary to what he claims he believes. Therein lies the problem, because his record reflects that he is who and what he says he is.
Now this thing with Romney was always a little suspicious though.
It’s possible that Rand is the only one who has really had ulterior motives. It’s very likely the death threat rumors are true. But it’s also possible that Rand is vying for a VP slot.
Was this planned with his father? I don’t know, but I’ve been a Ron Paul supporter for years, and my confidence and trust in them is shaken….especially in Rand, who I thought might make a good president in the future.
And by the way, I believe EVERYONE should vote. Nothing will ever change for the better if people don’t stand up for their rights and those of their fellow citizens. Although our president is hand-picked for us, we still need to exercise our rights and let our voices be heard.
If we don’t stand up for what’s right for ourselves and those who will come behind us, who do you think is going to do it for us? It’s up to each of us to do our part.

Ok.. I see where you’re coming from.. I believe the death threats are real too.. Media doing what they do so well because I haven’t heard anything about death threats.
As for the voting, the one time I was most likely going to vote (for Gore) they ‘lied’ and gave it to Bush. Even after they did a few recounts (regular everyday Floridians) and found that Gore won, they didn’t make any moves to put him in office.
So if I would have voted, I would have wasted my time.. Now if I would have been in line ‘ignorantly’ like so many Obama supporters in 2008 (or whatever year he won), I would have thought I did something because I helped the first black man in office.. That’s ignorant thinking though. Hold someone down long enough and let them up a little and they feel they conquered the world.
After Gore, I figured that the voting system was rigged. Not soon after Obama, I found out about 9/11, then Kennedy, the iraq war and more and more and realized we are in a system rigged to fail. No matter how we vote, they are going to do what they want.
Why do we even need one guy running the country? Because we accepted it and now it’s the norm..
Same reason we use money. We don’t need to use money but now we’ve accepted it as currency. Kinda hard to turn back now..
When it all boils down, everything happening in the US is prophecy…
I would rather read the bible and see what our heavenly father is voting for. I just feel it’s a waste of time voting for a system run by satan ( the ruler of this physical world) rigged to fail but for a good purpose; so that one day, the bad will be separated from the good and cast into the lake of fire.

I have to say I disagree. While I agree that we should be spending a great deal of time in the Bible and not stressing about worldly things, I also believe that God helps those that help themselves. We can just sit around trusting God to work everything out and completely avoid taking any action to move in the right direction.
I’m sure you’ve heard the joke about the man being trapped on his roof with flood waters rising. Then a man comes by in a boat to help him, and the guy refuses saying that God will save him. It happens again with the same result, and then a man comes by with a helicopter to rescue him and he still refuses to go stating that God will save him. Then he drowns. When he gets to heaven, he asks God why He didn’t save him, and God says he TRIED….he had sent him 2 boats and a helicopter!
Same difference. I believe God wants us to recognize HOW He’s working in this evil world, as well as put forth some effort.

I think we’ll just have to agree to disagree. I’m not sitting around scared waiting on God to save me…
Why participate in a system that is obviously tainted and corrupt; especially when I know everything that’s going to happen over to the US.
No matter what we want to happen, the future of this country is set in stone. I’m going to write an article soon on just why I don’t vote because I think people need to see the corruption they are participating in

What Rand did shocks me as well. I do imagine Rand probably got his blessing from Ron before he did this, but that said, Ron and Rand are both very different people.
I doubt we’ll be seeing a Romney endorsement from Ron; Rand said he’d endorse whomever the R. nominee was all along (even though technically Romney isn’t the nominee yet). Take a look at Rand’s records though, compare them to Ron’s. Ron has always been a no compromise type of guy on situations like this, Rand on the other hand has supported actions like U.N sanctions on Iran and many other things the Libertarian party/Liberty movement has stood against. Rand’s fiscal voting record reflects his father’s philosophies, but foregn policy and even some domestic are pretty far away from Ron’s.
I don’t see Ron endorsing Romney, but I do think a lot of this has been in order to help Rand get a VP position. I can see why they’d want to do that; they probably think having Rand in a position to influence Romney could help lessen the damage a Romney presidency could do………I couldn’t disagree any more with that thought process though. Romney would be a destructive and horrible president, Rand lied through his teeth when he said all those flattering things about Romney. I see this as Rand (and possibly Ron) playing the political game to try and influence who they see as the pressumptive nominee for the better. While Rand is no stranger to playing the political game, Ron never has played it, and I hope for his sake he’s not right now. Ron Paul has always been so special as a politician because he stood outside of the games that people like Romney played; throwing rhetoric around and subscribing to the “Republicans at any cost” ideology has always been beneath him. Ron Paul is a true friend of liberty, and I doubt that’s ever going to change. You need to remember though that he’s just a man, and men are bound to make mistakes every once in a while. I sincerely hope that Ron’s not making the mistake that he seems to have made; this just goes to show that placing all of your hope and trust into any single man is a bad idea though.
The important thing now is for the liberty movement to stay united. Ron Paul helped unite us, but that doesn’t mean that he’s the only thing holding this group together. If the Liberty Movement keeps it’s momentum there’s not telling what it can accomplish, but if it disperses now simply because of Rand’s endorsement of Romney, or Ron’s shortcomings, then we’ll have wasted all of this time and energy on nothing.

I agree with much of what you said, but it’s a crushing blow to the movement if it appears that the one man you never believed would sell out may have actually sold out. And I don’t think that getting Rand a VP slot would ease the minds of the majority of true patriots. I also don’t believe that most would vote for Romney even if Rand was on the ticket.
One of the most disappointing things is that, to the best of my knowledge, neither of them have addressed this yet. It’s possible it’s happened recently. I’ve been very busy and haven’t checked the news, but they sure didn’t address the supporters in a timely manner. Rand dropped this bomb and then there was nothing but silence on the Paul front. If nothing else, an explanation is in order.

Who cares if someone endorses a person or doesn’t. Make up your own mind on who is the right choice. Vote your own consience, not someone else’s.
